The Newcastle Community Green Festival has been part of my life for years now, I always look forward to it. It started in 1995 and in 1998 took on life as a two day festival of music, food and environmental and ethical activities and chatter in the beautiful Leazes Park.
We headed out today and the heavens opened, man it poured, but hey this is the North’s Glasto and mud is the order of the day! Before we left we visited the Farm at the top of the street, I guess this photo should have warned of the shape of things to come!
So, not letting rain stop us (we’re a resilient wee family) off we went!
Not many pics owing to the weather, but these give a flavour!
I’ve always fancied staying in a yurt – that one has an incredibly fancy door!
Looks like a brilliant community there
Good for you not being put off by the rain, it can be so difficult with little ones x
So brave of your guys to continue in spite of the rain! Looks like its so worth it tho =) #countrykids
Looks like you had a fab time.
Love the photo of the dream catcher.
It would definitely be on our must-do list as well!
I would love to stay in a yurt it looks like great fun (I hate tents and camping)
Aww I miss the green festival, used to have some craic at that when I was younger! Leazes park is lovely. Do you ever go to heaton park and does it still have the shoe tree do you know?
It looks like an amazing day out, I love that the children can get up close to the animals
I do love festivals and the community feel that they have! Well done for not letting the rain get in the way of your family fun. Thanks for linking up and sharing with Country Kids.
Glad that the weather didn’t put you off! I like the recycled dream catcher – very pretty!
Oh this looks like good fun. I have rather enjoyed the rain recently- at least it’s not been too cold! I love the paintings on the door of the yurt.
I totally agree that rain should not stop play! In fact, a good downpour is what gets my kids most excited to go out! Weirdos It may stress me out, but so may extra opportunities for learning.
I remember visiting Leazes park with my cousins. They live in Wallsend!
It’s always good to get outdoors whatever the weather. Sometimes it is a little too soggy though although I’m glad you’re spirits weren’t dampened. The yurt looks great and that piggy looks very comfy! Great photos thank you for sharing with #whatsthestory
Sometimes it’s good to embrace the rain and just go for it!
I used to love in Newcastle a LONG time ago – I bet it has changed a lot since I was last there.
LOVE the first photo of the pig!
Looks great fun
